Psychosocial Recovery Coaching · South East Melbourne

Recovery coaching across South East Melbourne.

Psychosocial recovery coaching is a working relationship with someone who understands mental health from the inside as well as professionally — building routine, keeping track of what helps, and getting the rest of your supports pulling in the same direction.

In the south-east that is mostly done in person, because it can be. A coach who lives twenty minutes away can meet you at home, at a cafe in Berwick or on a walk around Cranbourne, and can adjust when a week goes sideways.

Coaching moves at the pace of your recovery rather than the plan's dates. Some weeks that is practical work on getting out of the house; some weeks it is holding steady, which is also progress.

A lot of people we coach here are connected to the local mental-health system — Casey or Dandenong Hospital, a community team, headspace. Coaching works best alongside that, and part of the job is making sure those parts talk to each other rather than each holding a piece.

The growth-corridor suburbs bring their own pattern: new estates, few established connections, and neighbours who moved in the same month you did. Rebuilding a social base from scratch is common work here.

Self-managed and plan-managed plans welcome.

Common questions

Good to know

What is the difference between a recovery coach and a support coordinator?

A coach works with you on recovery week to week and brings lived experience; a coordinator builds and manages the supports in your plan. They overlap, and some plans fund both.

Where do sessions happen?

Wherever works — at home, out somewhere, or by video. In the south-east in-person is usually straightforward because our team is local.

How often would we meet?

Commonly weekly or fortnightly, set by what your plan funds and what is useful. It can step up during a hard stretch and ease off when things are steadier.
